Rubber roller (Lower sleeved roller, Pressure roller) is one of the main components of the fuser assembly of a laser printer, responsible for the tight and uniform adhesion of a sheet of paper with applied toner to the heating roller. As a result, thanks to its pressure and heating by a thermocouple, the toner fuses into the paper fibers and the image is fixed. It consists of a metal rod and a layer of heat-resistant rubber applied to it.
The most common causes of rubber shaft failure:
mechanical damage, when paper with paper clips or staples hits the thermal unit;
twisting, deformation and rupture of the surface of the rubber shaft as a result of exceeding the peak printing loads and overheating of the thermosetting unit;
natural wear of the rubber shaft when passing through the stated print resource of the thermal unit.

When replacing the shaft, it is recommended to also change the rubber shaft bushings.
