The improved version of the ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T 16-35 mm F2.8 zoom lens, recognized for its quality, has more powerful characteristics. Excellent detail and level of contrast combined with an ultra-wide-angle range of focal lengths provides a wide choice of angles and dynamic perspective. The new version of the lens reduces the level of parasitic images, the lens data processing algorithm has been improved for faster tracking, and in addition the lens has protection against dust and moisture.

Three aspherical elements, one element of ultra-low dispersion (ED) glass and one element of low dispersion glass make up the high-precision optical scheme of this discrete lens, providing high resolution and contrast level. The basic optical design remains unchanged from the original version and provides excellent image quality with minimal distortion in wide-angle shooting.

Aspherical optical elements require more manufacturing resources compared to conventional spherical lenses. However, with the exact calculation of the optical scheme, they cope with various types optical aberration and reduce them to a minimum. This lens is equipped with three aspherical elements that take the optical performance of this lens to a new level.
