Router Mikrotik CRS106-1C-5S

The Mikrotik CRS106-1C-5S- router is a typical representative of the hybrid Cloud Router Switch from MikroTik. The device combines both a level 2 switch and allows you to configure a level 3 router, this became possible thanks to the use of RouterOS with license level 5. It is fair to note that the CRS106-1C-5S still loses in speed compared to conventional routers. 

The compact form factor, measuring 114 x 137 x 29 mm, which is closer to the desktop models of the company's routers, makes it possible to place the device in a distribution box or small boxes. On the front panel there are 5 SFP ports 100/1000 Mb/s. and the power socket from the regular PSU. A combo port and a console connection port are available on the back. Combo port: RJ45 and SFP, however, only one of them can be active at the same time. 

The reset button is on the side. Thus, in the settings, you can use two versions of the device: the first - 5 SFP slots and 1 RJ45, while we have the opportunity to request the device from twisted pair Passive PoE. The second - in 6 SFP slots. The system on the crystal from Qualcomm is responsible for the speed of the device. Single-core processor QCA8511 with a clock frequency of 400 MHz. Flash memory with a volume of 16 MB. The amount of RAM is 128 MB. Hardware switch 12 interfaces. The bus between the CPU and the switch is 1 Gbit/s. In the operation mode of the level 2 switch, traffic is processed only on the hardware switch. When used in router mode, the traffic is processed on the CPU, which leads to small drops in performance.
