Cooler for the Noctua NF-P12 redux-900 case
The Noctua NF-P12 fan of the redux series draws attention to itself with two innovative technologies: in addition to the use of a special low-noise shape of the blades, which is noticeable to the naked eye, a self-stabilizing hydrodynamic type of bearing (SSO) was implemented.
The main difference of the SSO bearing from other types of hydrodynamic bearings is the installation of an additional magnet that supports rotor axis. Usually, hydrodynamic bearings are centered only during rotation due to the gyro effect. Therefore, at the moment of starting the fan, there is usually some beating of the shaft against the sleeve. In the SSO-bearing, the axis of the impeller is stabilized in the center, even before the moment of starting, thanks to the magnet, thus preventing the deformation of the sleeve. Thanks to the use of the SSO-bearing, it is possible to reduce noise and increase the service life of the fan.
The concept of the redux series is to simplify the delivery set without compromising the quality of the main product, in order to make fans more accessible to a wider contingent of progressive PC users. The simplification concerned, first of all, additional accessories: adapters, rubber mounts, and extension cords disappeared. Everything that could be painlessly saved was removed. But cardboard dampers and four cogs remained inside.
