Management functions include SNMP, Web-based management, SmartConsole utility, and Compact Command Lines. Switches of this series also support such functions as ACL filtering and D-Link Safeguard Engine. Moreover, the DGS-1210 switch series supports the Auto Voice VLAN function, providing maximum priority for "voice" traffic. DGS-1210 is made in a metal case for installation in a 19-inch rack, equipped with an innovative passive cooling system.
D-Link Green technology
The D-Link company takes a leading position in the development of innovative energy-saving technology that does not reduce the productivity and functionality of the device. The technology provides an automatic change in the level of the transmitted signal depending on the length of the connected cables (up to 20 meters). The application of Green Ethernet technology allows the switch to receive information about their activity by polling the status of ports and, if necessary, automatically disable inactive ports.
Flexible integration into the existing network
The switches of the DGS-1210 series are equipped with Gigabit Ethernet copper ports, which provide connection over the existing category 5 twisted pair cable. Each switch is equipped with two or four SFP combo ports for flexible optical connection to trunks and servers. With the help of the wizard of preliminary settings, the administrator can quickly make presets on the switch.
Advanced level 2 functions
DGS-1210 switches support a number of layer 2 functions, including IGMP Snooping, Port Mirroring, Spanning Tree and Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP). IEEE 802.3x flow control allows directly connecting servers to the switch for fast and reliable data transfer. Supporting a speed of 2000 Mbit/s in full duplex mode, the switch provides high transfer speed for connecting workplaces with minimal data loss. The switches support the cable diagnostics function and the Loopback Detection function. The Loopback Detection function is used to detect loops and automatically disable the port on which a loop is detected. The cable diagnostics function is designed to determine the types of copper cables, as well as the type of cable malfunction.
