The SwOS / RouterOS based Layer 3 managed switch has 28 independent ports*: 20 SFP ports, 4 SFP + ports for 10G modules and 4 combined 1G RJ45 / SFP ports from the combo group. These ports are software configurable - after connecting all eight cables, use scripts to select which four combination ports will be active

The 1U rack-mount case is equipped with two 100-240 V AC power supplies with failover function. The RJ45 console port is for management and debugging, and the Mode button is configured to execute any RouterOS commands.

The dual boot function allows you to choose the operating system: RouterOS or SwOS. If you prefer a simplified OS designed for switches with distinctive features, choose SwOS. And if you want to use routing and other level 3 functions on your CRS device, download RouterOS. The choice of the required operating system is available from RouterOS, SwOS or in the RouterBOOT bootloader settings. Products of the Latvian company MikroTik are network equipment. MikroTik develops, implements and installs wired and wireless routers, as well as accompanying equipment and operating systems. MikroTik was founded in 1995 as an emerging market hardware vendor. In 2007, more than 70 people were already employed in the company's staff.

The router and OS manufactured by MikroTik were chosen for the implementation of the African WLAN project, and for the construction of the network infrastructure in Mali, due to such advantages as low cost, flexibility, popularity and user-friendliness of the interface. In 2008, it was decided that only MikroTik brand equipment would be used to build the network infrastructure in a Brazilian municipality. As part of the Uruguayan programs called OLPC, a nationwide wireless network was created in schools based on the products of this manufacturer.
