The game Red Dead Redemption 2 is the main release of the whole year 2018. Unless the game from the same studio was able to exceed this record - it's GTA V. The power of the game within the industry can be judged by one more fact - there is not a single AAA game in the schedule next to RDR2, which says only one thing - all competitors are simply afraid of it. RDR2 broke all kinds of records on just two consoles - for this she needed Xbox One and Playstation 4.

But to begin with - a short excursion into history. In fact, Red Dead Redemption 2 is not the second part of the series, but even the third - the old Red Dead Revolver was released on the original Xbox and was more like a pen test than a full-fledged rocking game. Therefore, the title was safely forgotten, and the release of Red Dead Redemption on PS3 and Xbox 360 was not perceived as a sequel. Due to the general novelty of the brand and the narrow theme of the wild west, sales of RDR were far from what Rockstar expected - and this is despite the high quality of the game itself.

And here it is important to understand at what point RDR came out. After all, this is the year 2010, which, as it seemed, was the year of the sunset of personal computers as a gaming platform. Foreign piracy, bugs, a lot of different hardware and the lack of any common uniformity were also imposed on the fact that the sales of games on the PC were significantly lower than on the consoles - and this despite the fact that the port from the consoles turned out to be a difficult and time-consuming task, because the architectures of the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 were unique, closed and different from the PC. Therefore, the risky and expensive port of the not the most popular game to the withered platform was considered a gigantic risk purely economically - and the release of Red Dead Redemption on the PC did not happen.

Since then, 8 years have passed - and all these 8 years, the entire game industry flourished. New consoles experienced an incredible boom in popularity, but at the same time, the PC also received a new life. Today, it is the PC projects that bring the most profit - examples of this are World of Tanks, League of Legend or, for example, PUBG, and digital distribution through Steam and other online services has had a catastrophic impact on piracy. Using the example of GTA V, Rockstar is convinced that the PC is a money-making and long-playing platform, because until now, the constant online presence on GTA V servers exceeds 70 thousand unique people every day.

And now - on to the reasons why RDR 2 may or may not be coming to PC. Red Dead Redemption 2 has already shown phenomenal economic results. If Rockstar has giant plans for the development of the online component of the game, then the release on PC may indeed turn out to be the last of the priorities. Technologies. RDR 2 is the first game from Rockstar to have major optimization problems. Even on PS4 Pro and Xbox One, there are FPS drops in big cities - this studio did not allow itself before. When transferred to a PC, problems will only increase.

As practice shows, it takes about six months from the release of Rockstar projects on consoles to their announcement on PC. Given that May is a popular month for PC releases for this company (L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3 were released in May), it's likely that we'll get some information early next year. At the moment, there are simply no objective reasons for RDR2 not to be released on PC - and therefore the forecasts are rather optimistic.
