The photo drum is an important component of copiers and laser printers.

Constructively, the photo drum is a metal cylinder (usually aluminum), covered with a layer of photoconductive material - a dielectric, the electrical resistance of which drops sharply under the influence of light radiation.
The photo drum is designed to form an initially hidden electrostatic image of a document on a photosensitive surface (exposure), and then - obtaining an image of the visible (manifestation) formed by toner particles and, then, transferring this image to paper.
As a result, the same image that shines on the photo drum is produced on paper.
