Copy paper, copier - thin paper with a dye layer applied on one side, intended for obtaining several copies of a document when writing or drawing with a pencil, ballpoint pen, printing on a typewriter or dot matrix printer.

A sheet of copy paper is laid between two sheets of ordinary paper so that the side covered with a dye layer is facing down. When writing (printing), pressure is exerted on the paper, as a result of which the particles of paint applied to the copy paper transfer to the lower sheet.

If the copy paper is placed incorrectly (with the dye layer facing up), the copy will not be made, and a mirror image of the written (printed) text or drawing is formed on the back of the upper sheet of paper.

You can make several copies at the same time, alternating sheets of writing and copy paper. The number of possible copies depends on the thickness of the paper and the pressure on the letter (the impact force of the letters of the typewriter), however, in practice, as a rule, it is not possible to achieve a satisfactory reading of the sixth and subsequent copies.

With the spread of copiers and other office equipment, the need for copy paper has decreased significantly, but in home service enterprises that do not use computers and cash registers, it is still used for quick filling out strict reporting forms made in printers and sewn into books.
