AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) stands for absorbent glass mat. In fact, it is a common fiberglass sandwiched between the positive and negative lead plates. The electrolyte is in the "bound" state in this glass fabric. Due to the fact that the electrolyte is in a bound state, it is possible to operate batteries in any position (for example, on their side).
