Zoom is constantly working to improve its products, and the H5 Handy Recorder is a great proof of that. This model allows for simultaneous recording on 4 channels, and also has a convenient replaceable microphone system, known to users from the H6 model. The flexible and powerful H5 system allows you to record ideal audio for professional video.
The X/Y type microphone provides the necessary depth of stereophonic sound. The XYH-5 X/Y microphone consists of two unidirectional condenser microphones with an angle of 90 degrees, a rubber coating allows you to minimize vibrations and the level of external noise.
The microphones of this particular recorder allow you to capture sounds up to 140 decibels - about the sound of a jet plane taking off from a distance of 200 feet. So now you can record even louder and clearer sound.
XLR/TRS inputs allow you to connect external microphones and effects processors, synthesizers, mixing consoles, even electric guitars to the device if the need arises. Each input has its own controller that prevents it from being turned off during recording. It is possible to connect via a mini-jack.
Many options for outputting information are also provided. A dedicated line output with adjustable volume lets you send stereo audio to a microphone, camcorder or other device without the need for a cable with an attenuator. The Zoom H5 is powered by just two standard AA batteries, and the developers claim that one set will last for up to 15 hours, even when recording continuously. You can also use an AC adapter to charge the device without using batteries.
Recording is done directly to SD and SDHC memory cards up to 32 GB. The maximum recording duration depends on the format and quality. For example, the included 2 GB card holds 14 hours (320 kbps, MP3).
