DDR2 SDRAM is the second generation of synchronous dynamic memory with random access and double the data transfer rate.
DDR2 SDRAM uses data transfer on both slices of the clock signal, due to which, at the same frequency of the memory bus, it is possible to actually double the speed of data transfer compared to DDR.
Advantages of DDR2 SDRAM compared to DDR:
- higher bandwidth;
- as a rule, less power consumption;
- improved design facilitates cooling.
The Hynix DDR2 2048Mb memory module (HYMP125U64CP8-S6-C) has a CL6 parameter, which means a latency value equal to 6. CAS -latency is the first and most important parameter in timings, it means the number of cycles required to output data to the bus. Memory performance is most dependent on this parameter, as only it delays data access, the smaller the CL delay, the earlier the data enters the memory.
